Nelsen M.S. / Renton Community
Nelsen Middle School students are partnering with their community to raise awareness of disabled people in Ghana, where 10% of the population is disabled from years of malnutrition, lack of immunizations, and conflict. We hope to send 550 wheelchairs (1 container) to Ghana, giving people with disabilities freedom, mobility, and dignity.
Nelsen students will watch the dvd “Emmanuel’s Gift,” an inspiring story of a young man from Ghana who overcomes his disability and fights for the rights of the disabled in his country.
Don Schoendorfer, CEO of Free Wheelchair Mission and inventor of this special wheelchair, will speak to students, parents, and community members at Nelsen Middle School on Monday, Dec. 10 from 6 – 8 p.m.
Our goal is to raise awareness, so that together we can impact communities, in Renton and around the world.
